Flower Field Volunteer Hours

Volunteers are needed at Long Hill and Sedgewick Gardens in Beverly!

The Trustees of Reservations need your help to prepare and plant Long Hill and Sedgwick Gardens's Pick-Your-Own Flower Fields. We've extended our garden to bring even MORE fresh flowers to the community this year! We have a range of projects available for all abilities, from planting, weeding, and staking, to deadheading, seeding, labeling, and much more. Dig in and have fun with a great group of fellow volunteers!

Learn As You Sow at the Flower Fields

Come plant the seed that will become pick your own bouquets this Summer

Craving Spring? Join the folks at The Trustees' Long Hill and Sedgwick Gardens to learn about seed starting for our Pick Your Own Flower Field. Help us sow the first big round of seeds. With your help, these seeds will grow into the cutting flowers that we grow in our Flower Fields! Bring the family: ages 10 and up. Please pre-register.

Tree Lighting Festival at Smolak Farms

Between the smell of fresh-from-the-oven baked goods and hot cocoa, twinkling lights, array of homemade gingerbread houses and the buzz of holiday cheer, there’s no better place south of the North Pole to celebrate the holidays. This year the tradition continues when Smolak Farms kicks off the holiday season with their annual Tree Lighting Festival.

Smolak Farms All About Apples

There's all kinds of fun going on at Smolak Farm's Apple Festival!

Come to the Orchard and meet Johnny Appleseed!  Yes, he will be telling his story and spreading apple seeds!  (We think he'll even pose for a picture or two!)  In addition to meeting Johnny Appleseed, all things apple will be in the farm stand. Pick your own apples to take home!

Antique & Classic Car Show

Come see classic and antique cars at Smolak Farms!

Smolak Farms is hosting a classic and Antique Car Show right on the Farm!  Classic and Antique Cars will be on display, plus there will be lots of fun family activities that include hayrides, pick your own fruit, live music, baked goods, FREE arts and craft activities for kids, an animal area, a playground, bouncy houses and duck races!

Pick Your Own Flowers: Thursdays

Long Hill invites children to come pick their own flower bouquet in their garden

Organic and local - right here at Long Hill! Zinnias, snapdragons, rudbeckia, sunflowers, dahlias, and more bouquet-worthy flowers. Flower bouquets are priced at $7 for a large size, $3 for a child size. Please visit the garden anytime, but pick-your-own is only available at the hours stated. Learn sustainable gardening techniques in this educational, kid-friendly garden.

Strawberry Festival at Marini Farm

Marini Farm's Strawberry festival will feature all things strawberry in Ipswich

Come to Marini Farm for their celebration of the Strawberry Harvest. There's something fun for everyone in the family including a 70 foot jumping pillow, inflatables, hay rides, Apple Cannons, Antique Tractors, pick your own strawberries, Strawberry shortcake and more!

Hayride Down the Yellow Brick Road

Adventure that awaits at the Hayride Down the Yellow Brick Road

Dorothy will be jumping on a hayride with you to take you down the Yellow Brick Road where she will encounter her other friends from the Wizard of Oz throughout the apple orchards. A famous Smolak Farms cider donut and pumpkin will be complimentary with the adventure!

The Great Pumpkin Festival

Rides, crafts, food and fun are all part of Smolak Farms' Great Pumpkin Festival

Come to the Pumpkin Festival at Smolak Farms. We will celebrate with a very large selection of pumpkins in our pumpkin patch along with some Hide N' Seek pumpkins that will have a free gift inside! Perhaps you will be the lucky winner!

Anniversary Weekend at Smolak Farms!

Rides, crafts, food and fun are all part of Smolak Farms' Anniversary Weekend!

This weekend is a very special weekend at Smolak Farms. Be the first to pick delicious apples from the Antique Apple Orchard such as the Sheepnose, Sops of Wine, Granny Smith, Pink Pearl, Cortland or Baldwin apples during the group educational tours. Have a chance to meet Johnny Appleseed who will be sharing his legendary tale and posing for photos while providing tours throughout the orchards.
